Donald E. Beadle, 88, of Marion, died Thursday, February 11, 2010, at the University of Iowa Hospitals & Clinics, Iowa City. Services: 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 15, 2010 at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Marion. The family will greet friends from 12 – 1:00 p.m., Monday at the funeral home. Burial: Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Nelavene R. Beadle; his sons, David A. Beadle of Cedar Rapids, and Barry E. Beadle of Cedar Rapids.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his brothers, Kenneth and Harold Beadle.
Donald was born March 16, 1921, the son of Charles and Grace (LeGuire) Beadle, in Marion, Iowa. He graduated from Marion High School in 1939. He graduated with a 4-year degree from Coe College and then received his Masters Degree in Accounting from the University of Iowa, where he was also a member of the University of Iowa Marching Band. Donald married Nelavene Reimer on July 3, 1947 at the Little Brown Church. He worked as an accountant for 29 years at Collins Radio. Donald was a member of the U.S. Army during WWII. He loved music, the Chicago Cubs, and the Iowa Hawkeye football and basketball teams.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Donald’s memory.
