Donald J. Billmeyer, 69, of Delhi, died Monday, May 15, 2006 at the Dubuque Nursing & Rehab Center in Dubuque following a long illness.
Funeral Mass will be at 11:00 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2006 at St. John?s Catholic Church in Delhi by Rev. John Kremer. Family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. on Thursday at the Clifton-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Earlville with a scripture service at 7 p.m. Friends may also call from after 10:00 a.m. Friday at the church. Burial will be in St. John?s Catholic Cemetery, Delhi.
Donald was born February 26, 1937 in Earlville, the son of Joseph G. and Edna M. (Scovel) Billmeyer. He attended school at St. Joseph?s in Earlville. On February 27, 1965 Donald was united in marriage to Berdetta M. Meehan at St. Mary?s Church in Dubuque. The couple farmed south of Earlville until retiring to Delhi in 1983. Berdetta died August 8, 1993.
Donald was a member of St. John?s Catholic Church in Delhi and the Dyersville Sportsman Club. He loved camping at Bailey?s Ford in Manchester with family and friends, playing cards and fishing. He also enjoyed western movies and spending time with his family and friends.
Donald is survived by a brother, Earl (Patty) Billmeyer of Dubuque; nieces and nephews, Patrick (Melinda) Powell of Olin, Steve (Myra) Powell of Anamosa, Donna (Chuck) Davis of Cedar Rapids, Tim (Linda) Billmeyer of Marion, Ron Billmeyer, Joe Billmeyer, Diane Jones and Beth (Jeff) McMullen, all of Dubuque; and numerous great-nieces and nephews.
Donald was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph & Edna Billmeyer; his wife, Berdetta Billmeyer; a sister, Hazel Powell; brother-in-law, Curt Powell; and a nephew, John Billmeyer.
