Donald "Don" Duane Detrich

Donald "Don" Duane Detrich, 96, of Manchester, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. A Celebration of Life will be held from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Friday, February 6, 2026, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester.

Don was born on March 3, 1929, in Marshalltown, Iowa, the son of Jacob and Evelyn (Bridgeman) Detrich. He graduated from Marshalltown High School and went on to serve in the United States National Guard. Don married Marjorie Weidner on June 7, 1948, in Nashua, Iowa, two children were born to this union. He and his wife owned and operated Don’s Appliance Store in Manchester since 1973 and he never officially retired. Don and Marjorie loved traveling and visited Spain, the Caribbean, and Mexico, once on a cruise ship. Don enjoyed going on fishing trips to Canada regularly with his friends. He truly loved the fact his great-grandchildren got to know him. He will be greatly missed by all those who knew and loved him.

Don is survived by his son, Dana (Twyla) Detrich of Manchester; son-in-law, Mike Hinmon of Marshalltown; grandchildren, Erick (Janie), Jessica (Chad), Nathan, Kelly, Carrie (Joe), Wyatt (Angie); great-grandchildren, Matthew, Ethan, Makayla, Brinlei, Carson, Cayden, Kohl, Paige, Tori, Bailee, Emma, Lily, Tristan, Calvin and Piper; and his siblings, John, Roger, and Dean.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Jacob and Evelyn Detrich; wife of 64 years, Marjorie Detrich; his daughter, Dorene Hinmon; and his four sisters, June, Joyce, Jean, and Jeanette.
