Donald E. Henchal, 80, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, December 13, 2012, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. Services: 10:30 a.m. Tuesday, December 18, 2012, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Services, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Rev. Glenn Hunt. Family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Monday, December 17, 2012, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Jean of Cedar Rapids; step-children, Michael (Pat) Atwood of Lumber Bridge, NC, Carol (Jerry) Dunham of Marietta, GA, and Judy (Robert) Reedy of Cedar Falls, Iowa; twelve step-grandchildren; ten step-great-grandchildren; and a brother Richard Henchal (Sandy) of Bullhead City, AZ.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph and Mary Henchal; a sister, Mary Henchal; and three brothers, Harold, Robert and Joseph Henchal.
Donald was born on April 20, 1932, in Marshalltown, Iowa, son of Joseph and Mary (Souchek) Henchal. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Korean War. On September 15, 1979, Donald married Jean Moneypenny, in Cedar Rapids. He worked at Collins Radio and retired from Harnishfeger after 25 years.
