Donita R. Cone

Donita R. Cone, 79, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Friday, June 26, 2026, at Meth-Wick. Private family services and a Celebration of Life will be held a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids assisted the family.

Donita was born June 26, 1947, in Grand Island, Nebraska, the daughter of Clarence and Elsie (Alexander) Baxter. She graduated from Grand Island Senior High School. On May 15, 1965, Donita was united in marriage to Joseph R. Cone in McCook, Nebraska. Joe and Donita moved their family to Cedar Rapids, Iowa in 1973. She was very proud to be one of the original founders of Conveyor Engineering & Manufacturing, Co. in 1977. She worked for many years alongside Joseph Cone and William Djerf. Donita retired in 2021. She and Joe enjoyed RV life and camping in 48 states with great friends for many years. Their adventures would include boating and snowmobiling. Above all else, her greatest joy and proudest achievement was her family. Donita was a devoted mother and doting grandmother. She will be dearly missed.

Survivors include her husband, Joe Cone; son, Graig Cone (Katie); sister-in-law, Patricia Guzman; grandchildren, Brody, Sydney (Gabe Christianson), and Makenzie; as well as many nieces and nephews.

Donita was preceded in death by her parents; siblings, Deanna, Dixie and Daryl; and son, Mark.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be directed to Essence of Life Hospice.
