Donna Mae Courtney, 84, Delhi, Iowa, died Tuesday evening, August 3, 2004 at the Good Neighbor Home, Manchester after a sudden illness.
Funeral services will be at 11:00 a.m. on Friday, August 6 at the Delhi United Methodist Church by Rev. Julie A. May. Friends may call from 6:00 until 8:00 p.m. on Thursday at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Service in Manchester and one hour prior to services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Evergreen Cemetery, Delhi.
Donna was born on December 13, 1919 the daughter of Parden E. and Mae (Smith) Keith near Buck Creek. She graduated from Delhi High School then attended Nebraska State Teachers College in Wayne, Nebraska and earned her BA degree from Upper Iowa University in Fayette. On May 25, 1942 Donna was united in marriage to E. Glen Courtney in San Diego, California. Donna taught school for twenty-three years in the Quasqueton, Rowley and Maquoketa Valley districts. She worked as the Activity Coordinator at the Delaware County Care Facility (now the Penn Center) and volunteered in the Adult Literacy Program.
Donna was a member of the Delhi United Methodist Church where she belonged to the Hannah Circle. She enjoyed traveling in most of the United States, Canada and Mexico. Her interests included photography, scrap booking, genealogy and studying the bible.
Donna is survived by her son, RK Keith Courtney and his wife, Bu Wilson of Iowa City; a grandson, Nathaniel Courtney and daughter-in-law, Lois Courtney of Portland, OR; and numerous nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Glen Courtney on June 21, 1991; a son, Curtis Courtney on May 7, 1993; and two brothers, Robert and Maurice Keith.
