Dorothy “Dottie” Brockmeyer, 84, of Manchester, Iowa formerly of Colesburg and Guttenberg, died June 1, 2010 at the Good Neighbor Home following a brief illness.
Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, June 4, 2010, at the United Methodist Church in Manchester by Rev. Roger Henry. Family will greet friends from 4:00 p.m. - 6:00 p.m., Thursday, June 3, 2010, at the Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester and one hour before services at the church on Friday. Burial will be in the Oakland Cemetery in Manchester.
Dorothy was born May 1, 1926, in Farmersburg, Iowa the daughter of Arno J. and Mahala (Breitsprecker) Schmalfeld. On May 24, 1946, Dorothy was united in marriage to Arlyn Brockmeyer in Guttenberg, Iowa. Dorothy worked in the banking industry in Colesburg and Guttenberg, Iowa. She was a member of the Manchester United Methodist Church, UMW Church Circle and the American Legion Auxiliary.
Dorothy enjoyed making crafts and attending craft classes.
Dorothy is survived by her husband, Arlyn Brockmeyer; two children, Richard (Mary) Brockmeyer and Judy (Gary) Whitehead; four grandchildren, Lisa (Ken) Pasker, Jeff (Ann) Brockmeyer, Cindy Kudrna, and Cheri (Adam) Oberfoell; four great-grandchildren, Ashley and Kelsey Pasker, Nicole Kudrna, and Aspen Oberfoell; one great-great-grandson, Aiden Chopard and one sister, Cloyanne Ferber.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Arno and Mahala Schmalfeld; three sisters, Darleen Matt, Evelyn Pufahl, and Lagona Chejak and two great-grandsons, Cody Kudrna and Mason Oberfoell.
