Dorothy H. Ross

Dorothy H. Ross, 98, of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, died there Sunday, December 25, 2005, following a short illness. Services: 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, December 28, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Gary Dobbins. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, December 27, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery.
Survivors include two sons, Bill (Shirley) Ross of Cedar Rapids and Clark (Joan) Ross of Waterloo; two daughters, Shirley Knight and Mary (Earl) Reeve both of Cedar Rapids; 14 grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; and three great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, John; two brothers, Dean and Don; and two sisters, Imogene and Helen.
Dorothy was born July 4, 1907, in Hayesville, Iowa, the daughter of Edwin and Mary (Utterback) Bryant. On August 6, 1926, in Sigourney, Iowa, she was united in marriage to John Ross. He died September 23, 1984. She was a clerk at Link Belt and Collins. Dorothy was a member of Sharon United Methodist Church where she was active in the Mary Circle, Quilting and Sewing Group, and the Refunding Group. She was also a member of TOPS and the neighborhood birthday club. She loved to crochet rugs, do crossword puzzles, and wrote poetry. She was a loving mother and grandmother.
