Douglas Galen Steggall

Douglas G. Steggall, 57, of 5701 Country Lane N.E., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Tuesday, September 30, 2008, in his home following a long illness. There will be a private family service at a later date. Friends may call from 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, October 3, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Sandy “Sam”; children, Denise Steggall, Denise Burgess and Jim (Amy) Burgess all of Cedar Rapids; grandchildren, Logan, Ashley, Michaela, Katelyn and Jacob; brothers, William Steggall of Ely and Danny Steggall of Solon; and a sister, Roseann Trasak of Vinton.
Douglas was preceded in death by his parents; and a brother, Richard Steggall, Sr.
Douglas was born November 20, 1950, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Robert and Rose (Blazek) Steggall. He served in the Army during the Vietnam Conflict. On January 13, 1995, in LeMars, Iowa, he was united in marriage to Sandy “Sam” Burgess. Douglas was an electrical engineering tech for Rockwell Collins for 8 years and worked for Norand for 20 years.
Douglas was a member of the Double D Lodge and his joys were golfing, hunting, fishing, camping, and guitars, but his greatest joy was spending time at home with his family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established.
