Dr. Daniel Rick Trimble

Dr. Daniel “Dan” Rick Trimble, 83, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026, at The Views of Marion. A memorial service will begin at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at First Presbyterian Church, 802 12th Street, Marion. The family will then greet friends in the church fellowship hall for a time of visiting and reflection, until noon. Burial will follow at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service of Marion is assisting the family.

Dan was born on October 6, 1942, in Cedar Rapids, the son of Harvey Everett and Eleanor Elizabeth (Storck) Trimble. He was a 1961 graduate of Central City High School. He then earned his degree in dentistry from the University of Iowa in 1967. Following graduation, Dan honorably served his country in the United States Air Force. In 1969, Dan moved to Marion, where he opened his private practice, caring for patients for over 40 years.

On May 26, 1963, Dan was united in marriage to Karen Bradke in Central City, Iowa. Together they shared many years of love, companionship, and life adventures. Dan was a member of the American Legion, First Presbyterian Church in Marion, and Indian Creek Country Club. He also remained involved in his profession as a member of the Linn County Dental Society, the Iowa Dental Society, and the American Dental Association. In his leisure time, Dan found joy in golfing, traveling south in the winter, and keeping his mind sharp with solitaire and Sudoku. He will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Dan is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Karen Trimble of Marion; daughters, Deborah (Jay) Cassill, DDS, of Newhall, Iowa, and Beth (Jonathan) Blunt of Seattle, Washington; late daughter Jane’s partner, Susan Wagener of West Lafayette, Indiana; five grandchildren, George Joyner, Minnie Joyner, Katie Smith (Peter Lesslie), Maryanne Smith (Graham Jaenicke) and Mark Smith; one great-grandson; sisters-in-law, Bobette and Beverly Trimble, Bette (Alan) McClenathan; one cousin, Diane (Jim) Kippen; and many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Jane Smith, who passed away on May 3, 2024; brothers, Jon, Jerald, and Richard Trimble; and sister, Barbara Boesenberg; two cousins, Denise Troyer and Kenny Storck.

The family would like to thank The Views and Suncrest Hospice for the exceptional care Dan received.
