Geneva E. Mccormick (Ragsdale)

Geneva E. McCormick, 85, a resident of Heritage Nursing & Rehab Center, Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, October 18, 2008, at the care center, of COPD. Memorial Service: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 20, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Linda Jackson. The family will greet friends from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday, October 19, 2008, at the funeral home. Inurnment: St. Joseph Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her children, Charlie McCormick of St. Paul, Minnesota, and Robin McCormick of Cedar Rapids; seven grandchildren, Christopher, Michelle, Jim, Mike, Kendra, Matt and Danielle; nine great-grandchildren; a brother, Boyce Ragsdale of Dover, Arkansas; and a sister, Lorraine Ragsdale of Arkansas.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James; a daughter, Elizabeth Riha; and a son, James E. McCormick.
Geneva was born May 28, 1923, the daughter of Charles and Mary (Trantham) Ragsdale, in Dover, Arkansas. On March 1, 1945, she was united in marriage to James T. McCormick in Belle Plaine, Minnesota. He died November 22, 1991. Geneva worked as a telephone operator for numerous companies, retiring in 1980. A past member of St. Ludmila Catholic Church, she enjoyed fishing, cooking and spending time with her grandchildren.
