Earl Reeve, 85, died December 3, 2014, at the Dennis & Donna Oldorf Hospice House in Hiawatha, Iowa. Service with military honors: 2:00 p.m., Saturday, December 6, 2014, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, Iowa. Family will greet friends from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, December 5, 2014, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
He is survived by his wife, Mary; children, Bob (Barb) Reeve and Holly (DeWayne) Svoboda; five grandchildren; eight great grandchildren; one great-great grandchild; and brothers, Perry (Pauline Tyrrell) Reeve and Bill (Carol) Reeve. Earl was preceded in death by his parents; an infant son, James; four brothers; and two sisters.
Earl was born July 29, 1929, in Kent, Iowa, to his parents, Cleo and Myrtle (Schofield) Reeve. He married Mary Ross in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, on April 17, 1954. Earl was the Shop Supervisor for the City of Cedar Rapids Street Department retiring in 1991 after 40 years. Earl was a member of the Moose Lodge, Eagles #2272, VFW Post #788 and American Legion Hanford Post, and the Disabled American Vets. He was a Korean War Navy veteran serving from 1948 until 1952.
He was a loving husband and father and loved his grandchildren. He will be missed by all who knew him.
