Earnest Lee Schlemmer

Earnest “Earnie” Lee Schlemmer, Sr., 92, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away Wednesday, May 21, 2025, at West Ridge Care Center in Cedar Rapids. Private family services will be held at a later date. Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids assisted the family.

Earnie was born September 22, 1932, in Olin, Iowa, the son of Carl and Mabel (Barrett) Schlemmer. On October 14, 1950, Earnie was united in marriage to Betty Coleman. He worked for H & W Motor Express for 25 years. Earnie was a member of Trinity United Methodist Church. He enjoyed showing and working on stationary gas engines.

Survivors include his sons, Duke, Ron and Don; many grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great-grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty; his parents; grandson, Gerald Schlemmer; and six brothers.
