Edna H. Jackson, 87, of Cedar Rapids, passed from this earthly life to her home in heaven on Saturday, April 22, 2006. Celebration of Life Service: 11:00 a.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006, at First Assembly of God Church, Cedar Rapids, by Rev. Rick Gail and Rev. Bernard Reece. Family will greet friends from 4 to 8 p.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.

Survivors include her husband of almost 70 years, Vernon; three daughters, Janice Mullen and husband George of Albemarle, North Carolina, Sharon Taylor and husband Tot of Oxford Junction, Iowa, and Pauline Griffis and husband Virgil of Mt. Pleasant, Iowa; a son, Paul Jackson and wife Shirley of Council Bluffs, Iowa; nine grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren; and two sisters, Helen Crowder of Coal City, Illinois, and Wava Cockerill and husband Katy of Hot Springs, Arkansas.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her stepfather, Oscar Wilson; two sisters, Lila and an infant sister, Thelma; a brother, Harold; a grandson, Scott Eugene Taylor; and a great-grandson, Nicholas Aaron Taylor, Jr.

Edna was born September 14, 1918, the daughter of Glenn and Kathryn (Johnson) Jernberg, in Sioux Falls, South Dakota. On June 14, 1936, she was united in marriage to Vernon Jackson. Edna loved to knit, crochet and make and collect dolls. An avid reader, she enjoyed camping, traveling and excelled in cooking and sewing. She was a member of the First Assembly of God Church.

Edna will be forever remembered for her loving spirit, her love of life, her smile and the fun she created for her family and friends. A devoted and model wife, mother and grandmother, she was loved by all who knew her and will be greatly missed.
