Eldon ""Tom"" Thompson

Eldon “Tom” Thompson, 79, of Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, October 1, 2009, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids following a long illness. Services: 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at Zion Lutheran Church in Hiawatha by Rev. Dan Krueger, The family will greet friends from 5 ?" 7 p.m. Monday, October 5, 2009, at the church. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Center, Marion.
Survivors include his wife, Lois (Pierce) Thompson; seven children, Robert Thompson, Eldon Thompson III, Ronald Thompson, Richard Thompson, Darlene Thompson, Marshal Thompson, and Kristi Thompson; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Also surviving are his four brothers, Kenneth, Robert, Richard, and Lyle Engbretson.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eldon and Eva (Erickson) Thompson; and two sisters, Helen and Margaret.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund has been established in Eldon’s name.
