Elizabeth E. "Bettie? Moucka, 89, of Marion, died Wednesday, March 22, 2006, at her home, following a lingering illness. Funeral Mass: 11:00 a.m. Saturday, March 25, 2006, at St. Joseph Catholic Church by Father John Gossman. The family will greet friends from 4-7 p.m. Friday at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion where a vigil service will begin at 6:30 p.m. Private family inurnment: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids at a later date.
Survivors include her son, Paul (Paula) Moucka of Marion; a sister, Virginia Langan of Philadelphia, Pennsylvania; and two grandchildren, Karanne (Aaron) Wardell of Cincinnati, Ohio and Seth Moucka, a student at Luther College in Decorah.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; her daughter, Kathy Moucka; a brother, Pete Assmus; and a sister, Margot Tayek.
Bettie was born December 12, 1916, the daughter of William and Frances (Quinn) Assmus in Independence. She graduated from St. John?s High School in Independence. Bettie graduated from Mercy School of Nursing as an RN. On December 26, 1945, she married Les G. Moucka. He died August 14, 1994. Bettie worked as a registered nurse in Los Angeles, California and then at Mercy Hospital, retiring in 1982.
Bettie was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church and several bridge clubs over the years. She was a loving and devoted mother and grandmother. Bettie was a caring and devoted nurse who was loyal to her profession. She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Hospice of Mercy in Bettie?s memory.
