Elizabeth Ann Sperry

Elizabeth “Betty” Ann Sperry, 95, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Monday, September 14, 2026, at home. Visitation will be held from 2 to 4 p.m. on Sunday, September 20, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. A Funeral Service will begin at 10 a.m. on Monday, September 21, 2026, at the funeral home and a Private Family Inurnment will take place at a later date at Oak Shade Cemetery in Marion.

Betty was born on May 3, 1931, in Manchester, Iowa, the daughter of Benjamin and Marie (Westhoff) Wilhelm. She was a 1949 graduate of Blairstown High School. On September 19, 1955, Betty was united in marriage to Willard Nagel Sperry at the Immaculate Conception Church in Cedar Rapids, Iowa.

She served as a secretary at Rockwell Collins for 16 1/2 years, followed by 16 1/2 years as a secretary with the Cedar Rapids School District. She later worked in customer service at Farmers State Bank for 6 1/2 years. Across each chapter of her working life, she gave her time and talents with consistency and quiet devotion. She was also a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion. Betty will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Betty is survived and lovingly remembered by her son, Jeff (Patricia) Sperry; five grandchildren, Brett (Laura) Sperry, Justin (Meghan) Sperry, Ashley (Tyler) Johnson, Melissa (Phil) Workman, and Amy (Nick) Sagan; ten great-grandchildren, Danica Sperry, Blaine Sperry, Alessandra Sperry, Ashton Sperry, Taelynn Johnson, Dax Johnson, Alexander Workman, Aubrey Workman, Elijah Sagen, and Isaac Sagen; sister, Bernice Brecht; and sister-in-law, Charlene Wilhelm.

She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Willard Sperry; daughter, Linda Veal; two brothers, Jerome and Patrick Wilhelm; and sister, Mary Jane Fisher.
