Ella Mae Rentschler, 91, of Gordonville, Texas, formerly of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, November 17, 2011, after a long illness. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Saturday, November 26, 2011, at St. Jude Catholic Church, Cedar Rapids, by Father Mark Reasoner. Viewing: 3 to 7 p.m., Friday, November 25, 2011, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids where a rosary will be held at 4:00 p.m. Burial: Linwood Mausoleum, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three daughters, Janet Frongello of Apache Junction, Arizona, Margaret McBride of Gordonville, Texas, and Jean Rentschler-Pires and husband Keith Pires of LaPalma, California; nine grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; and six great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Ray Rentschler; parents, George and Marie Campbell; daughter, Kathryn Rentschler; and sister, Ida Marie Walsh.
Ella Mae and family moved to Cedar Rapids in 1962, where they quickly found a home and stayed over 35 years.
She was a member of St. Jude Catholic Church and belonged to the St. Martha’s Circle doing volunteer and charity work.
She was a career stay at home mom that loved God and His people. Ella Mae was a wonderful wife, loving mother and grandmother and will be truly missed.
Instead of flowers, a memorial fund has been established with the Alzheimer’s Association in her name.
