Elton Marvin Ellis, 86, of Manchester died Wednesday, December 22, 2010 at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester.
Services: 10:30 a.m., Monday, December 27, 2010 at the Cornerstone Community Church by Rev. Mary Green. Visitation: 2:00 p.m. – 5:00 p.m., Sunday, December 26, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home and Cremation Services, Manchester, IA. and one hour before services at the church on Monday. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Manchester, IA.
Elton was born November 15, 1924 in rural Ryan, the son of Fay Virgil and Elsie Gladys (Zehr) Ellis. Elton attended country school, Oneida Consolidated School, and graduated from Greeley High School in 1942. Following graduation he worked on the family farm. On March 23, 1946, Elton was united in marriage to Erma M. Tracy at the First Baptist Church parsonage in Manchester. He worked for Carl’s Feed and Farm Store for many years, retiring in 1988.
Elton was a member of the First Baptist Church in Manchester. He enjoyed spending time with his family, reading and puzzle books.
Elton is survived by four children, James E. (Linda) Ellis of Ankeny, Shirley (Jim) McNamara of Cedar Rapids, Donald J. Ellis, Sr. of Marion, and JoAnn M. (Brian) Reimer of Marion; ten grandchildren, Nicole (Darrell) McElligott, Teresa (Tim) Dea, Linae (Jeff) Smith, Darin Ellis, Kristina Ellis, Donald Ellis, Jr., Brian (Rachael) Ellis, Rachel, Caleb & Seth Reimer; great-grandchildren, Dylan, Reegan & Brennan Silver, Mark Ellis, Tae Choice, Tinley Dea, and one on the way; two sisters, Goldie E. Koehne of Schaller, IA and Marilyn (Gene) Zumhof of Hot Spring Village, AR.
Elton was preceded in death by his parents, Fay and Elsie Ellis and his wife, Erma M. Ellis.
