Ernestine was preceded in death by her parents, Ernest and Josephine Olson; sister, Bonnie Ledbetter; and brother, Bradley Olson.
Ernestine was born in Boscobel, Wisconsin on February 17, 1934, daughter of Ernest and Josephine Olson. She had found her heaven on earth in her sixty-one years of blissful marriage to the love of her life, Gerald Vander Sanden, and their six children, fifteen grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Her family was always her greatest source of pride and joy and she found pleasure and contentment in any journey or occasion that brought her family together. Ernestine was a kind and thoughtful woman who was a friend to all and accepted everyone as they were. She had a special “gift of gab” and enjoyed hardy conversation with young and old alike especially if the topic was about the “good old days”. Ernestine was also very proud of her hometown of Boscobel, Wisconsin and remained a loyal Boscobel Bulldog through her life. Her warm smile and robust laughter will be greatly missed but she has left behind countless precious and cherished memories that will forever stay in the hearts of the many lives she touched.
In lieu of flowers, memorial may be made to Hospice of Mercy, Cedar Rapids.
