Evelyn F. Beck Cadle, 77, of 2508 Newport Drive S.W., Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Wednesday, December 17, 2008, at home following a long battle with cancer. Memorial Mass: 10:00 a.m., Monday, December 22, 2008, at St. Jude’s Catholic Church, in Cedar Rapids, by Father Mark Reasoner. Friends may call from 9 to 10 a.m., Monday, at the church prior to the service. Burial: Oakwood Cemetery, Shellsburg. Arrangements by Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include her son, Roger (Sandee) Beck of Shellsburg; stepchildren, James Cadle, III of Versailles, Missouri, Martha Cadle Paquin of Naples, Florida and Susan Cadle Adams of Great Falls, Montana; her sisters, Madonna Stuart of Bellevue, Iowa, Orvetta Conrad of Iowa City, Iowa, Ann Alford of Algonquin, Illinois and Barbara (Bob) Loeb of Austin, Texas; her brothers, Lewis Lampe of Port Orange, Florida and Ron (Scherie) Lampe of Oshkosh, Wisconsin; and many nieces and nephews.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her husband, James Cadle Jr.; her parents; son, Douglas Beck; two brothers, Fred and Joe Lampe; and sister, Phyllis Leendertse.
Born July 4, 1931, in Bellevue, Iowa, Evelyn was the daughter of Benjamin and Margaret (Malone) Lampe. In 1953, she was united in marriage to Arthur Beck. They had two sons, Douglas and Roger and resided in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. In 1976, she married her second husband, James Cadle, Jr. who preceded her in death in 1983. The couple resided in Warrenton, Missouri.
Throughout her life, Evelyn was employed by Highway Equipment Company, Inc., Gaddis Brothers of Walford, Gaddis Investments, Gaddis and Janey Truck Service, Kraus Equipment and Gail Industries. She and her husband owned and operated Cadle Enterprises and Manufacturing in Warrenton.
Evelyn was a volunteer for the American Cancer Society, the American Red Cross, RSVP, and the National Czech & Slovak Museum and Library. She was also a member of All Church Singles, Widow and Widower’s, Business and Professional Women, and an investment book club, Ruff Times, of Warrenton, Missouri, which gathered with her in Cedar Rapids for the last 20 years.
