Evelyn Jean Larsen, 86, formerly of Springville, died Wednesday, February 21, 2007, at Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Saturday, February 24, 2007, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Rev. Karen Downey Beals. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Springville Cemetery.
Survivors include her brother, Harold Dragoo of Colorado Springs, Colorado; a sister-in-law, Margaret Tennyson of Cedar Rapids; sixteen nieces and nephews; and several grand-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a brother; and three sisters.
Evelyn was born December 9, 1920, the daughter of James and Myrta (Beam) Dragoo in Martelle. She graduated from Martelle High School in 1939. On November 25, 1957, she married Ivan Larson at the Little Brown Church in Nashua. He died June 10, 1989. Together, they farmed for many years. Evelyn loved to bake, cook, and was a very active member of Springville Presbyterian Church, where she was known as the "salad lady?. Evelyn was always thinking about other people?s needs and well being.
Evelyn?s niece Vera Klein and her daughter?s Stacie and Kim cared for Evelyn the last four years at Vera?s home in Cedar Rapids.
