Frances Louise McCutcheon, 88, of Cedar Rapids, formerly of Toledo, OH, was quietly released from her pain and suffering of kidney failure on March 2, 2013, with her daughter by her side. There will be a private family service at a later date. Per Frances’ wishes, there will be no visitation. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion.

Frances made her home with her daughter Suzanna (Susie) Bishop and son-in-law Gary. She was born on Jan. 15, 1925 in Mt. Hope, WV. After graduating from high school, Frances was proud to have contributed to the war effort by soldering fuse components for the Brush-Cleavite Corporation in Washington, DC. Frances married James Leslie McCutcheon on Sept. 26, 1946 in Mt. Hope, WV. Their early life revolved around James' service in the Navy. After the birth of their daughter, they followed James' job as a tree trimmer to Cleveland, Dayton and Toledo, finally retiring to Summersville, WV. In 1983, they moved to Iowa to be near their grandchildren.

Frances was preceded in passing by her husband, James; her parents William Williford Lewis and Hattie Louise Lewis (Jackson); her older siblings, Margarite, Oswald Esque, Seivert (Spike), Kathleen Weil; and younger sister, Isabel Redden.

She is survived by her daughter Suzanna Bishop and husband Gary of rural Linn County; grandson Bryan Joseph Bishop and his wife Amanda Bishop (Coe) along with Frances' great-grandchildren Lillian Erin Bishop, YeongHo Dennis Bishop and JiSeob Joseph Bishop, all of Mt. Vernon, IA; her grandson Stephen Wesley Bishop and his significant other Sheena Degnan from Alamenda, CA; her favorite niece Shelly Marie Redden of Cartersville, GA, and favorite nephew George Wayne Trent of Holiday, FL, and many other nieces and nephews.

Frances loved to crochet, wear Chanel No. 5, and watch the old black and white movies. She loved nature and animals even though she wasn't able to get out and enjoy them.

The family wishes to express their deepest appreciation to Dr. Bell and the St. Luke’s Hospice staff for their compassionate and comforting care, especially her faithful and supportive aide Suzanne and trusted nurse Julie.
