Frankie L. Ashlock, 100, a resident of the Lutheran Home, Vinton, formerly of Center Point, died Tuesday, September 28, 2004, at the care center, following a long illness: Graveside Services: 1:00 p.m. Friday, October 1, 2004, at the Center Point Cemetery, Center Point, by Chaplain Louis Bell of Amenity Hospice. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, September 30, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Center Point.
Survivors include her cousins, Ione Shrope, Maxine Watson and Raymond Bonebrake, all of Marion; her husband?s nephew, Bill Harris of Madison, Wisconsin; husband?s nieces, Linda Bach and Peggy Ashlock, both of Cedar Rapids, Betty Stone of Shellsburg and Juanita Van Eperan of Arizona; many great-nieces and nephews, including Shannon Brown of Cedar Rapids, Phyllis Benedict of Robins, and Robert Miller of Neenah, Wisconsin; and several great-great-nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband; a sister, Neva Miller; a brother, Wandall Waterbury; a niece, Evelyn Ondler; and a great niece, Andrea Bach.
Frankie was born April 14, 1904, the daughter of John and Anna (Newman) Waterbury, in Toddville, Iowa. On March 3, 1926, she was united in marriage to John Ashlock. He died November 1977. Frankie worked in the student placement office at LaSalle University in Chicago. She also worked for the Point Inn, the Center Point Grocery Store and the Recreation Hall, all in Center Point. Frankie loved to fish, cook and entertain. She was best known for her pies, homemade bread, noodles, fried chicken and strawberry jam.
