G. Jon “Budda” Kimbrough, 42, of 1850 Sugaridge Drive in Marion, formerly of Iceland, died Tuesday, December 23, 2008, at his home, following a heart attack. Memorial Service: 1:30 p.m. Tuesday, December 30, 2008, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion by Reverend James Condit. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Burial: Reykjavik, Iceland.
Survivors include his parents, Charles Kimbrough of Minnesota and Larry and Thorhildur Sutherland of Marion; his brother, Alfred Ray (Kathy) Kimbrough of Marion; two sisters, Ruth (Jeff) Williams of Center Point and Diane (Forrest) Rogness of Pflugerville, Texas; two nephews, Justin (Amanda) and Derrick; nieces, Danielle and Anna Gudrun; and great-nephew, Maddux.
Jon was born March 9, 1966, the son of Charles and Thorhildur (Johannesdottir) Kimbrough in Reykjavik, Iceland. He graduated from Linn Mar High School in 1984 and attended Kirkwood Community College. Jon worked as a carpenter and earlier worked in marketing and sales for a number of years. He enjoyed soccer, was an avid outdoorsman and an ardent sports fan, especially of the Bears.
