Gabriel Heims

Gabriel “Gabe” P. Heims, 44, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, passed away on Monday, January 3, 2022, at St. Luke’s Hospital in Cedar Rapids. A visitation will be held from 12:30 to 2 p.m. on Saturday, January 15, 2022, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion, Iowa, a memorial service will follow at 2 p.m. Burial will take place at Riverside Cemetery at a later date.
Gabe was born on February 26, 1977, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the son of Paul Heims and Carolyn Gilbert. He was a 1995 graduate of Anamosa High School and went on to attend Kirkwood and the University of Northern Iowa. Gabe worked for Weyerhauser and Quaker Oats. He always loved the outdoors, hunting fishing and sports. Gabe enjoyed football, golf, baseball and basketball. He was an avid fan of the Iowa Hawkeyes and the Dallas Cowboys. Gabe will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Gabe is survived and lovingly remembered by his mother, Carolyn Gilbert of Cedar Rapids; father, Paul (Sandra) Heims of Anamosa, Iowa; brother, Jonathan Heims of Anamosa; nephews, Casey and Waylon Heims of Anamosa; and numerous aunts, uncles and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his grandparents.
