Garland "Jerry? Wayne Carson, 83, of 5960 E. Kacena, died Tuesday, August 17, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Friday, August 20, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home in Marion conducted by Mike Schultz with Masonic Services. Friends may call from 4-8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. Graveside service: 2 p.m. at Troy Mills Cemetery.
Survivors include his children, Marcia (Bill) Wickham, R.J. (Cindy) Carson and Jennifer (Todd) Wyman, all of Marion; three brothers, Vernon Carson of Quasqueton, Leland (Evelyn) Carson of Cedar Rapdis and Joe Carson of Troy Mills; six grandchildren, Dorian and Nichole Wickham, Holly Carson, Greg (Sara) Carson, Cailey Carson and Katie Wyman; three great-grandchildren, Jacob, Kaleb and Emma; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and his wife, Doris; his sister, Ruby Kelsey; and an infant brother.
Jerry was born September 26, 1920, the son of Elmer and Mae (Winistorfer) Carson in Edger, Wisconsin . On February 22, 1946, he married Doris Ilene Starry. She died May 31, 2002. Jerry farmed in Linn County for many years. He was a member of the Scottish Rite, Masonic Lodge No. 284 of Central City, El Kahir Shrine and Jones County Mini-Patrol.
