Gary Warren Walker
November 27, 1952 — May 15, 2013
Gary Walker, 60, of Hiawatha, Iowa, passed away after a courageous battle with cancer Wednesday, May 15, 2013, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. A gathering will be held from 11-1 with a chance to share at 12:00 p.m. Saturday, May 18, 2013, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, conducted by Rev. Dan Hoeger.
Survivors include his wife Sandy Walker of Cedar Rapids; daughter, Jennifer (Chris) Colby and granddaughter Emma of Cedar Rapids; parents, Orville “Ozzie” and Carol (Ford) Walker of Cedar Rapids; siblings, Scott Walker and Corey Walker both of St. Louis, Missouri and Kris (Jeff) King of Cedar Rapids; nieces and nephews, Justin Walker, Jamie Walker, Nicole Walker, Sam Walker, Stephanie (Joe) Jacobs and Taylor King; and a great-nephew, Tucker Jacobs.
Gary was preceded in death by his grandparents; and sister-in-law, Janet Walker.
Gary was born on November 27, 1952, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, son of Ozzie and Carol Walker. He graduated from Jefferson High School in 1971, and attended Kirkwood Community College for 2 years receiving his AA degree. In 1992 he married Sandy Hibbert in Cedar Rapids. Gary was employed at Adidas for many years. He loved his granddaughter most of all and also enjoyed NASCAR, fishing and golfing.
In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
