With hearts that are forever changed, we announce the passing of our beloved brother, son, father, uncle, and friend, Glaine M. Coleman of Marion, Iowa. Glaine was born on May 27, 1970, the son of Bert and Nancy (McQuown) Coleman; and on Friday, July 10, 2026, God gently called him home.
There are some people who never ask for the spotlight… they simply make life better by being in it. That was Glaine. After 26 years of dedicated service at Quaker Oats, Glaine retired in March of 2024 and embraced a slower pace of life. He found joy in the little things… wandering through thrift stores searching for hidden treasures, sharing lunches filled with laughter, and spending time with the family and friends he loved so deeply. He understood that the richest moments in life weren’t found in possessions, but in the people sitting around the table with you.
His greatest gift was simply being Glaine. Kind. Funny. Humble. Steady. Loving. The brother who would always show up. The friend who never expected anything in return. The son whose love for his family never needed words because it was shown every day.
He leaves behind the pride and joy of his life, his son, Adam M. Coleman; his devoted Mom, Nancy Coleman; brother, Ernie (Chris) Coleman; sisters, Angela Marie, Shelli Mealman, Maria (Bryan) Arnold, Cammi Coleman, and Renae Norte; his dog, Pheobe, who was his ever faithful companion; his treasured nieces and nephews, Jesse, Aleah, Amber, Megan, Alyssa, Cara, Dillon, Justin, Jordyn, Jensen, Ty, and Julie; along with many lifelong friends and everyone fortunate enough to have shared a piece of this journey with him.
Waiting to welcome him home were his Dad, Bert E. Coleman; brothers, Robert Young and Charles Heiden; his grandparents; and his precious great-nephew, Brantley. We can only imagine the joy of that reunion.
Our hearts ache because we wanted more time… one more lunch, one more laugh, one more phone call, one more ordinary day that we now realize was extraordinary. Grief is the price we pay for loving so deeply, and Glaine was deeply loved.
Although this storm has forever changed our family, our faith reminds us that death is not the end of the story. Heaven gained a beautiful soul, and we find comfort knowing that Glaine is whole again, free from pain, and surrounded by the perfect peace that only God can give.
If Glaine leaves us with one final lesson, it is this… don’t wait for someday. Make the phone call. Go to lunch. Hug your family a little longer. Laugh a little louder. Love a little deeper. Life is never promised, but the moments we share become the legacy we leave behind.
Until we meet again, we will carry you in every family gathering, every shared meal, every unexpected treasure found on a thrift store shelf, and every story that begins with, “Remember when…”
You will always be loved. You will always be missed. You will always be our brother.
