Glenn Thomas Morarie, 86, of Waubeek, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 29, 2017, at Pinicon Place in Anamosa. The family will greet friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2018, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City. Funeral Services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, January 3, 2018, at the funeral home conducted by Reverend Edwin Moreano. Burial will be at Mt. Clark Cemetery in Central City.
Glenn was born March 26, 1931, in Independence, Iowa, the son of Ray and Lydia (Masters) Morarie. He graduated from Volga High School. Glenn served in the United States Marine Corps during the Korean Conflict. On October 31, 1954, in Volga, he was united in marriage to Jean Belden. He worked as a meat packer with Wilson’s Foods for 27 years. Glenn, his wife, and family worked together on the Morarie’s Farm Garden in the Waubeek area for 35 years, he was known as the “Veggie Man”. Glenn enjoyed growing vegetables and his gladiolas, as he had quite the green thumb. He also loved to dance. Glenn will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his four sons, Ricky and wife Julie of Center Junction, Richard of Central City, Steve and wife Gail of Central City, and Randy and wife Deborah of Wilmington, North Carolina; sister, Doris and husband Bernie Schultz of Sioux City, Iowa; 20 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
Glenn was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Jean; three sons, Michael Morarie at infancy, Arnold Morarie, and Mark Morarie; two brothers, George Morarie and Jim Eggers; two sisters, Norma Bradley and Florence Van Wagner; and a granddaughter, Marcy Morarie.
