G. M. "Jerry? Miller, 77, of Manchester, Iowa died Tuesday evening, April 13, 2004 at the Iowa Veterans Home, Marshalltown, Iowa, following a long illness.
Funeral Services will be at 1:00 p.m. on Friday, April 16 at the Manchester United Methodist Church with Rev. Roger B. Henry officiating. Friends may call after 12:00 noon on Friday at the church. Inurnment with military rites will be in the Oakland Cemetery, Manchester. Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Manchester is in charge of arrangements.
Jerry was born the son of Ben and Ray (Goldberg) Miller on September 13, 1926 in Houston, TX. He attended school in Queens, NY before the family moved to St. Louis, MO. Jerry entered the U.S. Army and served during World War II. Upon discharge in 1946, Jerry moved to Dallas, TX where he operated Miller Shoe Store with his father. On January 25, 1953 Jerry was united in marriage to Diane Paris at the Manchester United Methodist Church parsonage. The couple settled in Dallas where Jerry worked as a traveling shoe salesman. In 1987, he retired and moved to Manchester. His failing health required Jerry to move to the Veterans Home in February of 2003.
Jerry was a member of the Manchester American Legion Post #45 and Masonic Lodge #165. He drove for the Regional Transit Authority in Manchester. Jerry enjoyed coffee with his friends, playing cards and spending time with his grandchildren. In his younger years, Jerry enjoyed fishing and golf.
Jerry is survived by his wife, Diane Miller of Manchester; two daughters, Cindy (Dave) Wilhelm and Jill (Doug) Miller, both of Manchester; eight grandchildren; 5 ? great-grandchildren; a sister, Selma Super of Dallas, TX; and one niece, Roxelle Paris of San Francisco, CA.
He was preceded in death by his parents; an infant daughter, Paris Miller; and a brother-in-law, Milton Super.
