H.C. "Harry? Villers, 83, of 347 25th Avenue S.W., Cedar Rapids, died Saturday, April 22, 2006, in Mercy Medical Center following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, April 26, 2006, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Deacon Jim Berger. The family will greet friends from 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, April 25, 2006, at the funeral home. Burial: Oakland Cemetery, Iowa City.
Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Dolores; a son, Kevin Villers of New York City, NY; a daughter, Nora (David) Johnson of North Liberty; four grandchildren, Jessica Johnson and (Chris Greene), Jennifer (Dennis) Christie, Helena Villers, and Ben Johnson; and one great grandchild, Olivia Christie. Also surviving are two sisters, Geneva Kucera of Toledo, Iowa and Ruth Bennett of Marshalltown.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a son, Stephen D. Villers; a daughter, Rebecca S. Villers; and two sisters, Louise Villers and Kathryn Stewart.
Harry was born May 21, 1922, in Tama County, Iowa, the son of Colonel Elsworth and Elizabeth (Hand) Villers. On January 24, 1948, he married Dolores Murphy in Oklahoma City, OK. He worked for Linn County Road Maintenance. Harry enjoyed going to The Hill in Ely, monkeying with his stuff, and meeting his coffee clutch, A memorial fund has been established in Harry?s memory at St. Jude?s Children?s Hospital or Camp Courageous, RR 2, Monticello, Iowa 52310.
