Harry William Hergert

Harry W. Hergert, 82, of Yuma, Arizona, died Monday, December 22, 2008, in his home following a short illness. Services: 3:00 p.m., Sunday, December 28, 2008, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by Pastor Del Bear. Friends may call from 1:00 ?" 3:00 p.m. Sunday, at the funeral home prior to the service. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include his wife, Peggy; his children, Donna (Dennis) Dial and Terry (Julie) Hergert; and grandchildren, Eric (Jami) Dial, Amanda Dial, Zachary Hergert and Malorie Hergert.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents; his brother, Marvin Hergert; and a daughter Bonnie Sue Hergert.
Harry was born July 9, 1926, in West Amana, Iowa, the son of Rudolph and Eleanor (Reihmann) Hergert. Harry married Peggy Jones on July 27, 1944. For 30 years he worked as a truck driver for Pacific Intermountain Express. Harry served in the US Navy.
In retirement Harry enjoyed riding his recumbent bicycle.
