Harry J. Wilford, 93, of 81 26th Avenue SW, died Sunday, May 31, 2004, at Living Center East, Cedar Rapids, following a short illness. Services: 3:30 p.m. Friday, June 4, 2004, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Dan Clark-Bridges. Friends may call from 4 to 8 p.m. Thursday, June 3, 2004, at the funeral home. Burial: Linwood Cemetery, Cedar Rapids.
Survivors include three sons, Richard (Charlotte) Wilford of Cedar Rapids, William (Donna) Wilford of Swisher and James (Judith) Meeks of Solon; a daughter, Beverly Wilford of Cedar Rapids; nine grandchildren, Elizabeth Colson of Chico, California, Laura Fisher of Solon, Kathryn Merta of Cedar Rapids, Joseph Wilford of Swisher, Tara Lofgren of Orlando, Florida, Robert D. Martin III of New Jersey, Richard A. Wilford of Chicago, Illinois, Kenneth Wilford of Cedar Rapids, Justin Meeks of Chicago and Jennifer Smith of Denmark, Iowa; and 13 great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife; five brothers; and three sisters.
Harry was born July 21, 1910, the son of William and Mida Perry Wilford, in Plainview, Iowa. On September 25, 1928, he was united in marriage to Dorothy L. Clark in Rock Island, Illinois. She died December 20, 1989. Harry served with the United States Army during World War II. He was secretary/treasurer of the Teamsters Local 238 in Cedar Rapids.
