Helen I. Klingler, 93, of New Braunfels, Texas, formerly of Marion and Hiawatha, died at her home in Texas on Tuesday, September 21, 2004, after a short illness. Friends may call from 9:30 - 10:30 a.m. Monday, September 27, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion. Graveside Services: 11 a.m. Monday (September 27) at Cedar Memorial Park Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with the Rev. Del Bear officiating.

Survivors include a daughter, Laurine Bowell of New Braunfels, Texas; a son, Don H. (Lois) Klingler of Delhi, Iowa; a brother, Earl Summers of Cedar Rapids; three grandchildren, Don A. Klingler of Albany, Illinois, Kathy Harris of Rochester, Minnesota, and Tammy Sorenson of North English; and five great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Malcolm; a daughter, Sandy Hendrickson; a grandson, Brett Sorenson; and several siblings.

Helen was born the daughter of Charles A. and Mertle N. (Pulver) Summers on September 12, 1911, Harlan, Iowa. On March 29, 1930, she married Malcolm J. Klingler in Avoca, Iowa. He died October 22, 1987. Helen worked at Collins Radio in Cedar Rapids for approximately ten years. She had been active with the Hiawatha Senior Center. Helen and Malcolm had been avid square dancers and had traveled to Germany and much of the United States to dance. Helen loved to knit and crochet.
