Helen D. Tisl, 95, of Central City, died Friday, April 28, 2006, at Winslow House Care Center in Marion, after a short illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, May 1, 2006, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion, by Pastor Larry McGinty. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 - 8 p.m. Sunday. Burial will be a later date at Jordan?s Grove Cemetery, rural Central City.

Survivors include a daughter, Linda (Charles) McDonald of Central City; three grandchildren, David (Barbie) McDonald of Kansas City, Kansas, Dan (Susan) McDonald of Atlanta, Georgia, and Diane (Brett) Kimm of Mt. Vernon; and six great-grandchildren, Rachael, Rebecca, Hope, Joy, Curt and Kristin.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank; and two sisters, Bessie Kramer and Lenora Dlouhy.

Helen was born the daughter of John and Mary Jakoubek Stirsky on November 29, 1910, in Alburnett, Iowa. She was united in marriage to Frank J. Tisl on December 15, 1938. Frank died February 27, 1993.

Helen was an avid sewer and baker and was well-known for her pies, cinnamon rolls and kolaches.

A memorial fund has been established in memory of Helen.
