Helen M. Zimmerman, 88, of Hopkinton, died Thursday, May 5, 2016. Visitation will be from 2:00 -8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2016, at St. John’s Catholic Church, Delhi, Iowa. A Funeral Mass will be held 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, May 12, 2016, also at the church, with visitation one hour prior to service. Burial will be at Calvary Cemetery, Ryan.

Helen is survived by a son, Larry (Kathy) Zimmerman of Ryan, two daughters, Sharon Zimmerman of Hopkinton, Teresa (Louie III) Fischer of Dubuque, grandchildren, Ryan (Verona) Zimmerman of Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Heather (Bill) Ries of Manchester, Sean Zimmerman of Ryan, Lou (Carolyn) Fischer IV, Ben Fischer of Palma de Mallorca, Illes Baleaves, Spain, and Gretchen Fischer of Dubuque; and great-grandchildren, Joseph “Rocky” Tavai, Parker, Alexa, Brody, and Casey Ries; sister, Clara Bonin of Rochester, Minnesota; sisters-in-law, Gerry Huber of Hopkinton, Delores Huber of Delhi, Una Voelker of Manchester; brother-in-law, Eddie Lewis of Manchester; and many nieces and nephews.

Helen was preceded in death by her husband, Donald; a daughter in infancy, Mary Elizabeth Zimmerman and infant twin sons; her parents; brothers, John Huber, Thomas Huber, Patrick Huber, Donald Huber, and David Huber; sisters, Laura Mangold, Katherine Mullen, and brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Lucille Zimmerman, Carrol and Virginia Zimmerman, Doris Zimmerman, Norma Lewis, Lorraine Huber, Bill Mullan, Arthur Bonin, John Mangold, and Carroll Voelker

Helen was born October 17, 1927, near Farley, Iowa, the daughter of George and Mary (Hill) Huber. She attended rural schools in Dubuque and Delaware Counties, and graduated from Buck Creek High School. She was united in marriage to Donald Zimmerman on September 4, 1948, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, Ryan. She farmed with her husband on the family farm near Ryan. Helen was a member of the American Legion Auxiliary, and a 4-H Leader. She enjoyed cooking, gardening, crafts, and most of all spending time with her family.
