Henry “Bud” Haren, 93, of Hopkinton, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, September 30, 2025, at the Good Neighbor Home in Manchester. Visitation will be held from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. Saturday, October 4, 2025, at Bohnenkamp-Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Manchester. A Memorial Service will follow at 3:00 p.m. with Reverend James Wolf officiating. Burial will take place at Upper Bay Settlement Cemetery, in rural Delhi, Iowa
Henry was born on August 30, 1932, in Delaware County, Iowa, the son of Henry C. and Emma D. (Henze) Haren. He graduated from Coggon High School. Bud married Jeannette Pulver, and five children were born to this union, the couple later divorced. He married his second wife Mary Ann Koch on May 19, 2007, in Robinson, Iowa. Bud farmed near Ryan and also worked as a carpenter; he retired in 1997. Bud was a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles in Manchester and Cedar Rapids where he was a former President and a member of the Troy Mills Christian Church and Hopkinton Community Church. He enjoyed raising Arabian Horses, going dancing, and his trips to Colorado to Elk Hunt. He and Mary Ann enjoyed many winters in Arizona. You could often find Bud at Hartridge Golf Course or the 4 Corners in Hopkinton, enjoying a beer and having lively conversations with friends. Bud will be missed by all those who knew and loved him.
Bud is survived by his children, Lynnette (Mark) Schnittjer of Delhi, Scott Haren of Indiana; grandchildren, Connie Feldman, John Burbridge, Carrie Sternstein, Shannon Heidt, April Beasley, Charissa Adams, Erik Haren; 14 great-grandchildren; and 7 great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Henry and Emma Haren; wife, Mary Ann Haren; brothers, Ferdinand, Hiram, Jack, and David Haren; sisters, Lydia Satterlee and Minnie McRoberts; and his children, Debra (Wayne) Burbridge, Henry “Sonny’ Haren, and Tim Haren.
