Henry B. Holdgrafer, 96, of Marion, died Sunday, January 3, 2010, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids, of natural causes. Funeral Mass: 10:30 a.m., Friday, January 8, 2010, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church, Marion. The family will greet friends from 4 ?" 7 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2010, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, with a Vigil Service beginning at 6:00 p.m. Burial: Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, Iowa.
Survivors include his wife, Eveyln; son, Dennis (Ann) Holdgrafer of Marion; daughter, Joleen Holdgrafer of Marion; 1 grandchild, Meghan Holdgrafer; siblings, Ann Berding of Clinton, Gert Fogg of Clinton, Bernice Unruh of Gooselake, Iowa and Raymond Holdgrafer of Gig Harbor, Washington.
He was preceded in death by his parents; and 1 brother, Edward Holdgrafer.
Henry was born June 1, 1913, the son of Clem and Louise (Droste) Holdgrafer, in Clinton, Iowa. He married Evelyn Berding on May 31, 1952 at St. Bonaface Church in Clinton, Iowa. Henry worked for Burch Construction Company for many years.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family in Henry’s memory.
