James David Crowley, 82, of Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died Thursday, December 30, 2021. A visitation will be held from 4 – 7 p.m. on Monday, January 3, 2022, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Cedar Rapids. A funeral service will take place at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, at the funeral home. Burial will take place at a later date at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Cedar Rapids. The family respectfully requests all guests wear masks. James was born March 26, 1939, in Cedar Rapids, the son of David and Lenora (Mueller) Crowley. He served in the United States Army Reserves during the Vietnam War Era. James worked for IDEAL Computers, Siegel’s Jewelry, and owned and operated Crowley-Bentley Jewelry in Marion. He was a member of the Marion American Legion Post #298, St. Matthew’s Catholic Church, and a former member of the Marion Chamber of Commerce.
Survivors include his children, David (Linda) Crowley of Iowa City, James Crowley of Coralville, and Julia Crowley (Jeff Gisbon) of Mt. Vernon; grandchildren, Katherine (Kenneth) Wilson, Sean Crowley, Madeline Abu-Nameh, and Sarah Abu-Nameh; and sister, Katherine Schinzel.
He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Lenora Crowley; brother, Joseph Crowley; and longtime partner, Carol Schneider.
