James Gables, 47, 0f 1500 Cherokee Dr., died Sunday, April 30, 2006, at St. Luke?s Hospital, from complications of COPD. Funeral services will be 1:00 p.m. Saturday, May 6, 2006, at Cornerstone Funeral Chapel in Ider, Alabama. Visitation will be from 3-9 p.m. Friday, May 5, 2006, at the funeral home in Ider. Burial: Fuller Cemetery, Ider, Alabama. Local services will be held at a later date. Arrangements by Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center in Marion.
Survivors include his companion, Donna Baze; three children, Kelly Loham of Jefferson, Texas, William Gables of Novi, Michigan and Jamie Gables of Novi, Michigan; twelve brothers and sisters, Robert Gables, Edna Laney, Edward Gables, Nellie Mae Barker, Elizabeth Wilson, Sherrie Manning, Glen Gables, Wanda Slater, Gussie Gables, Edna Simms, Darlene Bell and Annie Wyatt; six half brothers and sisters; and two granddaughters, Dominique and Hailey Loham.
He was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers.
James was born September 2, 1958, the son of Jimmie and Nellie (Wilson) Gables in Anniston, Alabama. He worked as an elephant trainer and later became a chef.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of James.
