James R. Grannan, 68, of Marion, died Thursday, July 29, 2004, at Mercy Medical Center, following a short illness. Services: 11 a.m. Monday, August 2, 2004, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Marion by Rev. Jose Luis Camparan. At Jim?s request, visitation will be private. Private Family Inurnment will take place at a later date.

Survivors include his wife of 46 years, Ann; a son, Jeffrey Grannan of Robins; three daughters, DeLaine Ward of Austin, Texas, Elizabeth Zuercher and husband Dave of Marshalltown and Amy Bean and husband Curt of Marion; sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Curt Hames; eight grandchildren, Kristin, Wesley, Quinn, Sydney, William, Kody, Kate and Harper; honorary grandson, Richie Burham, Jr.; and numerous loving nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother Richard Grannan; and his maternal and paternal grandparents.

James was born May 15, 1936, the son of Cletus J. and Berniece (Griffith) Grannan in Washington, Indiana. He graduated from Washington Catholic High School in Washington, Indiana in 1954. James served with the U.S. Air Force from 1954-1958. On December 10, 1957, he married Ann Mann at Parks Air Force Base in Pleasanton, California. He then attended Vincennes University in Vincennes, Indiana. James was Store Manager at Montgomery Ward for eleven years. He then worked with his sister and brother-in-law, Norma and Curt Hames at Hames Mobile Homes for twenty-five years, retiring in 2000.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Joseph Church in Marion, the American Heart Association, Mercy Medical Center or to a charity of the donor?s choice in Jim?s memory.
