James "Jim" Warren Farrington

James “Jim” W. Farrington, 77, of Prairieburg, Iowa, passed away on Wednesday, August 19, 2026, at his home. A Memorial Service will be held at 6 p.m. on Monday, August 24, 2026, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Central City, Iowa, with a visitation beginning at 4 p.m. until the service time. Certified Celebrant, Amy Hart, will officiate. Burial will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Cemetery in Prairieburg.

Jim was born on August 28, 1948, in Anamosa, Iowa, the son of Warren and Ella “Joyce” (Holmes) Farrington. He was a graduate of Central City High School. On August 27, 1966, Jim was united in marriage to Patricia Ann Huber at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Prairieburg, where Jim and Patricia continued as longtime members. Together, they raised six children.

Jim worked at Iowa Manufacturing – which later became Terex – in Cedar Rapids, as a Machinist and later as an Inspector, where he dedicated over 45 years. After retirement, Jim enjoyed woodworking, the occasional trip to the casino, and bonfires at home with his family. Most especially he enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. Jim will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.

Jim is survived and lovingly remembered by his wife, Patricia Farrington of Prairieburg; children, Penny (Kurt) Farrington of Central City, Peter Farrington of Prairieburg, Ted (Brooke) Farrington of Marion, Iowa, Rachel (Jason) Runde of Ryan, Iowa, Jason Farrington of Prairieburg, and Jeremy (Toshanna) Farrington of Anamosa; 16 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; sister, Susan (Craig) Harkness of Central City; and sister-in-law, Linda Farrington of Central City.

He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Diana; and brother, Dennis.
