James R. Lovekin, Sr., 67, of 931 16th Avenue SE, Cedar Rapids, died Thursday, October 20, 2005, in St. Luke?s Hospital, Cedar Rapids, following a long illness. Services: 10:30 a.m. Monday, October 24, 2005, at Murdoch-Linwood Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Cedar Rapids, by the Rev. Nick Longworth. The family will greet friends from 1 to 5 p.m. Sunday, October 23, 2005, at the funeral home. Burial: Oak Hill Cemetery, Cedar Rapids, with military honors.
Survivors include his wife, Bobbie; his children, Kimberly (Joseph) Poorman of Cedar Rapids and James (Lisa) Lovekin, Jr. of Eden Prairie, Minnesota; five grandchildren, Tessa, Brittany, Alexa, Cameron and Kylee Lovekin; three sisters, Lorraine Fredenburg, Sandy Farris, both of Michigan City, Indiana, and Arlene Arnold of LaPorte, Indiana; and a brother, Vern Lovekin of Fish Lake, Indiana.
He was preceded in death by his parents; a brother, Dickie; and a sister, Cheryl.
James was born August 13, 1938, the son of Lester and Verna Hanyzewski Lovekin, in Michigan City, Indiana. He served in the United States Navy. On July 14, 1973, James was united in marriage to Bobbie Hatchel in LaPorte, Indiana. He worked for Hunter Specialties, Inc.
