James David Mann, 71, of Guttenberg, died Sunday, December 7, 2014. Funeral Services will be held 2:00 p.m., Monday, December 15, 2014, at Clifton Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service, Earlville. The family will greet friends from 4:00 – 7:00 p.m., Sunday, December 14, 2014, at the Funeral Home, and one hour prior to service on Monday. Burial will be at Pleasant Hill Cemetery, Coggon.
Jim was born March 1, 1943 in Waterloo, Iowa. He was the son of Maurice and Ruth (Wiseman) Mann. He was in the United States Army with service in Korea. Jim married Susan Thompson on December 24, 1972, at Buck Creek Methodist Church. He served as a Delaware County Deputy Sheriff for several years, and later worked as a private security officer. Jim enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and visiting the casino. Jim loved to make everyone laugh and his grandsons were very special to him.
Jim is survived by his children, Heather (Chad) Schnoor, of Low Moor, Iowa and David Mann, of Guttenberg; grandsons, Klay and Trey Schnoor; sister, Luanne Mann, a brother, Bob (Trudy) Mann, brothers-in-law, Corey (Karla) Thompson, Tom Kramer, sisters-in-law, Karin Mann, Young Mi Mann, and Linda (Don) Swanson; and many extended family and friends.
Jim was preceded in death by his wife, Susan (Thompson) Mann; parents, Ruth and Maurice Mann, parents-in-law, Larue and Glenn Thompson, brothers, Mark and Morey Mann; brother-in-law, David Thompson; and sister-in-law, Kris Kramer.
