James E. Noska, 71, of Central City, loving husband, caring father and grandfather, died Wednesday, February 10, 2010, at St. Luke’s Hospital, Cedar Rapids. Services: 11:00 a.m. Monday, February 15, 2010, at United Church of Christ, Central City, by Rev. Mark A. Woldruff. The family will greet friends 3-7 p.m. Sunday, February 14, 2010, at the church, and one hour before the service at the church on Monday. Inurnment: Mills Cemetery, Central City, at a later date.
Survivors include his wife, Myrna; children, Tim (Vickie) Noska of Coggon, Kim Cooper (Tim Merfeld) of Cascade, Rod Noska of Lakewood, CO, and Chris (Pam) Noska of Central City; 10 grandchildren, Chad (Cindy) Noska), Kent (Lani) Noska, Emily (Matt) Hoover, Tonya (Chad) Shipp, Tiffany Easterday, Alexandrea Olah, Mackenzie Cooper, Jamie Cooper, Dylan Noska, and Aaron Noska; 14 great-grandchildren, Jordan Olsen, Cole and Brady Noska, Ava Hoover, Calvin Noska, Aaliyah Cooper, Teagan Noska, Travis Ship, Bryce, Tabitha, and Wes Andrews, Dallas Mclane, and Charlie and Braelyn Easterday; brother, Richard; and step-sister, Delores.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Marilyn; and step-father, Carl Cherry.
James was born June 22, 1938, near Troy Mills, the son of Edward and Helen (Carver) Noska. He married Myrna Mills on November 28, 1957, in Alburnett. James was a veteran of the U.S.Navy. Before opening Jim’s Automotive in Central City, he was employed by Allen Motors, Rapids Chevrolet, and Link Belt Speeder.
A memorial fund has been established in Jim's name.
