James L. Wilks Jr., 46, of Cedar Rapids, died Friday, February 20, 2015, at Mercy Medical Center, Cedar Rapids. A Memorial Service will be held July 18, 2015.
Survivors include his mother, Rose White of Cedar Rapids; sister, Tina (John) Walker of Alburnett; brother, Rich Henning of Cedar Rapids; niece and nephew, Gema Walton and Jamie (Ashley Fowler) Wilks, both of Cedar Rapids; great-niece and great-nephews, Syria Paige Walton, James Ray Wilks and Spencer Lee Wilks; his adopted family, Mindy and Shawn Moors and family of Cedar Rapids; and special friend Doug Loney and fiancee Trisha Coker Ewing and their family.
He was preceded in death by his father, James L. Wilks Sr.; and stepfather, Patrick H. White.
James was born March 26, 1968, the son of James and Rose (Aossey) Wilks, in Iowa City, Iowa. He worked for Coe College as a chef and took chef classes at Five Seasons. James liked collecting unique knives and guns. He enjoyed gaming and his favorite character was Marvin Martian.
James was a happy go lucky guy and everyone loved him.
A memorial fund has been established in memory of James.
