Janet Denise Kula

Janet Denise (Chafin) Kula, 73, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Saturday, October 24, 2026, at her home. There will be no services held at this time. A Private Family Inurnment will take place at a later date at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery in Prairieburg, Iowa.

Janet was born on September 10, 1953, in West Virginia, the daughter of Betty Chafin. She graduated from high school in West Virginia. On July 23, 1971, Janet was united in marriage to David D. Kula in Texas. She worked in packaging at Chesapeake for many years before retiring in 2007. Janet enjoyed traveling with David, taking trips to Tama to try her luck at the slot machines, and spending time playing Yahtzee. She was also a fan of Elvis and enjoyed spending time outdoors doing yardwork. Janet will be dearly missed by all who knew and loved her.

Janet is survived and lovingly remembered by her daughter, Julie Pledge of Marion; grandson, Emmanuel (Ana) Jones of Marion, and his children, Mariana, Emmanuel, Jr., Alaya, Elaina, Manny, Maria and Willie Jones; granddaughter, Iesha Kula of Marion, and her children, Christian Kula, Caleb Celichowski, Messiah Garfield; granddaughter, Breanna Burks of Marion, and her children, Kavell Wade and Kamari Wade; grandson, Davion Martin of Marion;

She was preceded in death by her parents and husband, David Kula.
