Janice Kaye Crow, 83, of Marion, Iowa, passed away on Tuesday, June 10, 2025, at the Views of Marion. The family will greet friends from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. on Friday, June 20, 2025, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Service in Marion. Janice was born on September 16, 1941, in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, the daughter of Erwin and Georgia (Silver) Andersen. She was a 1959 graduate of Marion High School. On March 28, 1964, Janice was united in marriage to James E. Crow at the Union Church in Quasqueton, Iowa.
Janice worked for Collins Radio for 11 years, while also assisting her husband farming land and raising hogs at their Marion farm. Together, they raised a son and daughter. She was an active 4-H member in her youth and took pride in being selected to attend the National 4-H Congress in Chicago, Illinois. Later, she was a longtime 4-H leader of Marion’s Best 4-H Club and was a former director of the Linn County Fair Board for 15 years. In 2007, Janice and James were both inducted into the Iowa 4-H Hall of Fame at the Iowa State Fair.
Janice never moved far from home, always living within a mile of where she grew up. She considered her neighbors part of her family. Those who knew her well might remember her fondness for cardinals. She always appreciated the gift of a cardinal. Janice will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Janice is survived and lovingly remembered by her husband of 61 years, James Crow; daughter, June (Adam Schrader) Crow Schrader; son, Jerry Crow, all of Marion; and three grandsons, Addison, Jeret, and Seth Crow Schrader (Kayley Greiner), all of Cedar Rapids.
She was preceded in death by her parents and brother, Nile Andersen.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Janice’s memory may be directed to a charity of the donor’s choice.
The family would like to offer special thanks to the staff at the Views of Marion and Mercy Hospice for their loving care of Janice.
