Jay Michael Schmidt, 21, of Springville, Iowa, died of a sudden illness on Christmas Day, December 25, 2004. Services: 1 p.m. Wednesday, December 29, 2004, at Murdoch Funeral Home & Cremation Center, Marion, by the Rev. Jerome Egel. Burial: Springville Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home from 6 - 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 28, 2004.
Jay is survived by his parents, Mike and Kathy Schmidt of Springville; his brother and sister-in-law, Joshua and Amy Schmidt of Cedar Rapids; nephew, Dylan Schmidt; his grandparents, Verna Schmidt and Louis and Beulah Folken of Anamosa; numerous aunts, uncles and cousins; and his special friend, Aleah Burns.
He was preceded in death by his grandfather, Richard Schmidt.
Jay graduated from Springville High School in 2002 and was employed as a mason at Bret O?Brien Masonry.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
